Infoview is part of Crystal Enterprise, Crystal Reports Server, and BOE XI.
So your question is akin to asking what's the difference between the F1 key and a keyboard.
BO's description of Infoview:
InfoView is a window to a broad range of useful business information around your company, including Web Intelligence Reports, Crystal Reports, Crystal Analysis reports, spreadsheets and other documents. With InfoView, you can access this information and organize it to suit your preferences.
Since you already state that you have CE-10, I am assuming that you are asking what is the difference between the CE-10 user interface (WebDesktop/ePortfolio) vs. the new BOE-XI user interface (InfoView).
To be honest, however, I'm kind of in the dark on this. I've heard of InfoView but know nothing about it. According to synapsevampire (above) InfoView is part of Crystal Enterprise but I find no mention of it in my documentation. Is it new in CE XI? Is it an alternative or a replacement to web interface that is offered in CE X? Can you send me a link to some documention for this?
It's the Default web interface that installs with the CE or BOE environment.
In Crystal Enterprise 8.5 it was called "ePortfolio".
In Crystal Enterprise 10 it was called "WebDesktop".
In Business Objects Enterprise XI it is called "InfoView".
There is very little difference between 8.5 and 10 - in XI the format has moved to a more "framed" web format with a number of different frames and drop-down/cascade folders.
There's plenty of documentation on Crystal Enterprise, including the Viewers used, and keep in mind that within Infoview, and previous web based viewing processes, you could change the type of viewer (Active-X, Java, HTML).
You might want to clarify what you are trying to do, as I mentioned before, your question made no sense.
I gather by the star attributed to to MJRBIM you simply wanted to know the names of the different user viewing portals in the versions of Crystal Enterprise/Crystal Reports Server/BOE XI.
I'm only trying to understand what tools are available and how I might be able to use them.
Call me crazy but when I hear a new product or component name, I assume that there is SOMETHING different about it. Please pardon my ignorance, I am simply attempting to learn something about this.
How would you suggest I have asked this question?
Again, please pardon my ignorance and I apologize for any frustration this may have caused.
I didn't think you ignorant nor did it frustrate me, but you haven't really asked a question that I can see,
As for the tools available, there are numerous tools aside from CE available, a numvber of companies ofer 3rd party products, but you haven't stated a requirement.
I had heard of InfoView and simply wanted to learn what it is. Since my last post I have found the "BusinessObjects Enterprise™ XI InfoView User’s Guide" documentation which has cleared everything up for me.
