Hello. Creating 2 reports in Crystal Reports 10. One report accesses a Microsoft Access 2002 database via the Microsoft Access ODBC driver and the other report accesses a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet via the Microsoft Excel ODBC driver. The reports run in Crystal Reports however when running the reports from Crystal Enterprise 10 I am prompted for the database logon. The Crystal Enterprise ODBC connections are configured the same way as the Crystal Reports workstation ODBC connections.

Why is Crystal Enterprise prompting me for a “User ID” and “Password”? I did not set one on the Excel and Access file.

Thanks.

The CE system probably doesn't have access to the folders you're using.

Make sure that the user name used for the services in CE have access (probably the account used when CE was installed), then it should work fine.

Don't think that's the problem.

I am currently able run CE reports accessing various Oracle databases, etc.

The Crystal Enterprise server is able to see the Excel and Access files via a drive mapping.

Hi,
The CE services run under an account..This must be an account that has File System Rights to the location of the Excel and Access files (Oracle is an entirely different thing, it is not file system based).

The fact that the CE server can map drives is also irrelevant - That happens because you are logged into the server with sufficient rights..The CE services need rights as well.

Have the services run under a domain account with the correct rights..

I still feel that it's related to the account under which the services are run.

But perhaps you used an explicit drive mapping, rather than a UNC mapping.

Check that it's using \\machinename\path...

Not:

<drive letter>:\path...

Thanks to synapsevampire & Turkbear for your help. The files that the reports are trying to access are located on NetWare volumes. I changed the logon info to a NDS account for the Crystal Page Server service. I also used UNC paths for the Access & Excel ODBC connections.
