question:

Can an NLB environment be set up for Crystal Enterprise where there are 2 Servers (almost identical) using Crystal Enterprise?

a little about our setup:
Using Crystal ENterprise 8.5
client queries IIS (Internet Information Server) using domain user credentials. The IIS uses crystal credentials (defined in crystal console management) to access a server in an NLB environment. This server then accesses the Crystal databse and should return information via IIS to the client.

We are having problems with our configuration of the NLB environment. After introducing a second server (server B)to the environment this server then fills itself to capacity with connections and does not release connections. When quering the same server (Server B) without inserting it into the NLB environment queries from Crystal (reporting) function perfectly (almost).

What is the solution?

ok

patch on win2k advanced server reconfigured IIS and Network Load Balancing environment (NLB) which now has 2 functioning nodes. all ok - so far

ok

we now have a problem with generation of reports which is erratic;

When we try to generate a report Crystal cache server requires authentication. This happens at unspecified intervals (the request for authentication is erratic not constant). Why?

The log is below:

The description for Event ID ( 35208 ) in Source ( Crystal_cacheserver ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: Not a valid logon token..
