Hi,

I'm working with CR10, CE10 with Oracle 9i.
I got a problem in deploy reports in remote Client CE10 server. In my testing stage, I was able to perform specify table schema name in order for reports to switch between different schema of same data source in runtime. When those reports were deployed in Client CE 10 server (another city), we got problem to perform the same job as what I did, they could successfully switch data source for reports against production oracle table or views, but failed to switch data source when report against production Oracle procedures. I have get confirmed the Client Admininstrator exactly duplicate what I did testing stage, but report works after manually set data source location in designer and publish to CE 10.

I have no idea how this happened, did anyone experience same problem for CE 10 before? Or any hints I can follow?

Thanks,

Ted

What you are doing sounds unusual.
I have read a bit about moving reports between schemas by NOT using specific data schema name, but just the table name so that oracle will resolve to either the current user's tables, if available, or private synonym and so on. (A. Harper, crystal reports 9 on Oracle)

Is that what you are doing? Do the reports run to procedures fail entirely or just run against the wrong schema?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. We have different schemas for development and QA testing in the same database in which you can develop in one schema and update your schema version for testing and release. Crystal Report need to know the schema name to find the tables since they are not in the synonym.

Anyway, My issue may be solved by applying the Service Pack for Crystal Enterprise 10, I'm working on this now.

Thanks,

Ted

I am curious to understand this better, if you know of any documentation on the web, that would be great.
I guess my main question is, do you have the reports running on CE, but being called by a custom application?

Hi,

Report running on CE and called by application should be on-demand reports. I had accomplished that in my previous project by creating a customized CSP file to run the reports 2 years ago. I will do it in the next phase of current project. I think it would be lots of samples and topics about this. My old code is based on CE8.5 and use url reporting for this.
