I am using a custom browser based application that uses Crystal Reports (v.8.0). The problem is that when a report is run the processor is driven to 100% and stays there until the report is finished. This keeps any one else from doing anything until the report finishes. Any Ideas what could be causing this?

It is run off of a Windows 2000 server with IIS 5 and ODBC connection to an Oracle 8i database. [shadessad]

There are settings that will allow the server to operate more like a workstation.

Right-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop, and choose properties. On the Advanced tab (furthest to the right), click the "Performance Options" button. In the Performance Options window that appears, you will see the top section, labeled "Application response" allows you to choose to optimize performance for Applications or Background Services. You'll want Applications.

Will this setting effect just someone working from the server or will users logging in get the same benifits?

Depends on how they are logging in and what they are doing.

Test it, or state specifics.
