Is there a line continuation character for Crystal formulas, such as there is for Basic formulas, a space followed by underline- like this _

I have a really long concatenation and would like to break it up for readability. The formula works fine until I try to break the line. (Crystal 8.5 & SQL SP)

Thanks!

Hi there,

Do you mean you want to break it up in the formula editor for readability or when the actual report is run?

You can use either Crystal syntax or Basic Syntax when you create a formula, although this is a global setting. I don't really know if you use underscores in those formula, but in crystal syntax it is not needed.

In Crystal, you can nest formula fields within formula fields, and rely on all of them working. Does this help?

Thanks to all for your responses. What I had was a formula so long that it scrolled off the formula editor screen. I just wanted to break the line so I could see it all at once.

I knew that in Basic you had to use a continuation character at the end of such a line, so figured there was something similar in Crystal syntax.

dgillz, I didn't realize it was that simple. I took your advice and simply pressed the enter key at strategic points, dividing one long line into three. And it works, thank you very much!
