Crystal Commands Not Available for Notes Datasource

I am using Crystal XI with Lotus Notes 7 as the datasource. I am using the Lotus NotesSQL driver 3.02 to connect to the Notes data using ODBC. It doesn't appear that the SQL commands can be used when using this connection to Notes data, "Add Command" does NOT appear as an option like it does when connecting to SQL Server or DB2.

Are there other options that I can try in order to make the commands available? Lotus Notes views do not allow for the kind of complex SQL logic that is necessary to manipulate the data for my reports. I need to have some environment where I can build the business logic.

We have a tentative "plan" to export the data to SQL Server, but our data architecture dept. would force us to fit into a strict data model with all of the associated data maintenance features built in. This would more than double the scope of this project, so that isn't a very good option either.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Lynchg,

are the Business Views not an option?

Jan

JvD,

I didn't know anything about the Business Views. Thanks for the tip, I am investigating that now.

The Business Views application in Crystal Enterprise won't let me make a data connection to my Notes database. It allows me to connect to a SQL Server database, but not Notes. Maybe Notes is not an acceptable data source for this application. I was using ODBC to try to make the connection.
