Crystal/BOE XI R2 WinForms and VMWare 6 1

I hope this will save someone the pain I've just been through.

All my development work is done using VMWare Workstation. I upgraded to Version 6 at the weekend. Continuing work on Monday, I find that my Windows development using C# 2005, BO XI R2 and WinForms doesn't work properly any more. When viewing reports, the group tree & toolbar appear correctly, but I just see a grey panel where the report page should be displayed. Hovering over the page, the pointer changes correctly where drill down should be and drill down works, though the page still doesn't display.

The fix is to select VM | Upgrade or Select Version
Then change the version of the VM to VMWare 5. I assume it's the screen driver that's the problem.

In summary:
1) Application runs fine
2) Report runs
3) Group tree and toolbar displayed
4) No report, just a grey panel.
5) Fix by changing the version of the VM back to 5

Hi Andrew,

A similar (black screen) problem on Citrix used to be fixed by changing the number of colors setting on the Screen Display.

Worth a test...

There's been an update to VMWare since the original post. I don't know if it's fixed the problem, I'll get around to testing next week some time. If it still doesn't work, I'll try reducing the colours.

FIXED!
The latest VMWare 6 update fixed the problem. If I'd done the update 3 days later, I'd have had no problems.
