Hi all

I am using CR v8 and have been ASKED to look into the use of Crystal Analysis.

I am led to believe that this was at one time free from Seagate.

What is Crystal Analysis used for ? I get the idea that the users can request reports using this over an Intranet, is this right.

where can I either down load or get a copy on CD.

Altough I have used CR for some time, during that time I have had to obtain results both from using CR and SAS, so I have been some what busy.

Any help will be most welcome.

Regards

Brian.

Analysis is a product that doesn't seem to be widely used. Tek-Tips has a forum for Analysis forum783 but it is pretty slow. I also have a link to Crystal Analysis' home page on my web site's links page. You can download an eval copy from the CD web site.

I believe that you are correct in that something called Crystal Analysis used to be free, but I think this might have been a completely different product from what is offered now under that name. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

The current product called Crystal Analysis is being promoted as Crystal Reports for OLAP cubes. You can use it for either ad hoc reporting or for production reports off any complient OLAP OLEDB source. It originally worked with MS SQL server, but by now may support other OLAP products. It works very well on the Crystal Enterprise sever bringing web delivered cube views.

The free Seagate Info 7 Cd included a free java based report/OLAP viewer called Seagate Analysis. This was based on an earlier product called Crystal Query. The original Crystal Query mutated into the Crystal SQL Designer.

Crystal Decisions like reusing an earlier product name for completely new and different products. The original Report Application Server (RAS) was a Cr8.5 web based report designer. In CR9 RAS provides the same facilities as the Cr8.0 Web Component Server (and little else). Editor and Publisher of Crystal Clear
