Does anyone know if Crystal Analysis can be used to create reports from the multi-dimensional data in an Oracle Express database?

Crystal analysis uses the "Open Olap for ole" standard to communicate with different databases. Among the officially supported databases that use this type of communication are: Microsoft's Analysis services, Crystal decision's Holos, and SAP's BW.
However WhiteLight and SAS both use this standard but are not official supported. I haven't tested these to see if they work yet or not. I think a bunch of others like Microstrategy and Essbase put out open drivers too.

Express on the other hand is not supported and Crystal decisions tells me they have no plans to support anything other than the Open Olap standard. Sorry Cbrunch.

Thank you OlapGuy! This is what I suspected. You can't imagine what a hard time I have had trying to get an answer to my question!

You can download a trial of Crystal Analysis from their website and test it.

Crystal Analysis is supported against MSFT, SAP BW, Essbase, DB2 and Holos cubes. There is no current support against Oracle cubes - however, it is something that Crystal Decisions is looking at in the future though no timelines as yet.

Supported OLAP servers:
Crystal Analysis Holos® 8.5 and 9
Microsoft SQL Server 7 OLAP Services (SP2, SP3)
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services (SP1, SP2)
SAP® BW 2.0B and SAP BW 3.0*
IBM® DB2® OLAP 7.1 and 8.1
Hyperion® Essbase® 6.1 and 6.5
Crystal analysis Prof does not support Oracle cubes but Crystaldecisions is currently working on it. for that ( oracle cubes) use Crystal holos 9 and then use crystal analysis for creating reports.

What about IBM's new DB2 addon, DB2 Cube Views? Will CA work with this?

Thanks.

Crystal Analysis 9 does not currently support reporting off IBM DB2 Cube Views.
