Hi,

I´m trying to use RDC. I now that it have a designer, a viewer and a component automation.

For the use of automation I need to make a reference to Crystal ActiveX designer runtime.

What I don´t understand is the use of Crystal ActiveX designer Design time.... Even with the Activex Designer in my project I´m able to take of that rference... so what is the application of that component? Can you give me an example of it´s use?

Thank you.

I am not sure if I understand your problem.

There are two dlls. The Designer Design Time is used when the program is developed. It allows you to design a report or call a report from VB.

The Designer Runtime allows a user to develop or work with reports from the application. The Run Time license use requires payment of royalties to Crystal.

There are many examples on the CR website but to use them you must register your copy of CR. RIght now the web site seems to be down.

hi,

So tell me if I´m right:

The Designer Design Time is only used to interact with the Activex Designer, right? With it, I will be able to create a report inside Activex Designer as well as manipulate any report that it as inside.

The Designer Runtime is to manipulate reports outside visual basic, in other words, in a rpt file.

So, if I want to manipulate a rpt file, I could directly use Designer Runtime or i could open it inside the designer and then manipulate it with Designer Design Time.

Is that the point?

thank you again.
