Dear Esteemed Forum:

I'm trying to create a Financial Statement using our G/L chart of accounts numbers. How can I get the Financial Statment to SUBTOTAL at different intervals on the report BASED on the G/L Numbers.

Example of our G/L number:
1000 Series = Cash (Asset) example= "1000-052" (the 052 is a dept #)
2000 Series = Liabilities(L)
3000 Series = Equities (E)
4000 Series = Income
>5000 Series = Expenses.

example:

4000-010 = 10,000.00 (income)
4020-020 = 20,000.00 (income)
5000-010 = 15,000.00 (expense)
5010-020 = 3,000.00 (expenses)

How do I get the subtotal? for the 4000 series....and then for the 5000 series....and also a running total?

I hope this is enough information.

Thank you for ALL your help and I appreciate this forum
Mike

You can group on a formula.

Formula ThousandSeries:
Left(GL_Num,1)

Group on formula field {@ThousandSeries} and subtotal in group footer.

MrBill

Thank you for your input. I did this and now it is subtotalling on each separate chart number.

example:

4000 = 500.00
4010 = 1500.00
4011 = 2000.00

Etc.... What I'm needing is for it to give me ONE subtotal for ALL 4000 series.

My formula looks like this:

Left({G1_G_L_Balance.General_Ledger_Account_Number},1)

My Chart numbers look like this:

4001-052
4002-053 etc, where the first 4 digits are the CHART number last 3 are "dept#s"

Again, I'm trying to get ONE subtotal for all 4000 series charts.

THANKS....Mike

Your formula looks correct. Look at your grouping. Are you grouping on account number before grouping on your formula? Your formula group must come before your account number group.

MrBill

Excellent......EXCELLENT......great...working fine now.. I really appreciate your expertise.... I think I've got it from here...BUT...if not, I'm posting again.

THANKS alot.... Mike
