Hello,

Does anybody use Crystal 9 with Oracle 9.2.x (ODBC 9.2.0.4)?

I run into big troubles with this configuration.

First problem is that when creating new report Crystal in some cases doesn't show the user (even if I am logged in to database as this user). This could by workarounded by setting owner to selected user.

Other problem is that Crystal shows up error message "Query Engine Error: '22003:[Oracle][ODBC] Numeric value out of range.'" when adding some tables to the report.

There was no such error with older ODBC driver (9.2.0.1). But there were other errors which made me to upgrade ODBC driver.

Does anybody have experiences with this?

Please do not tell me to use native Oracle datasource. I have to use ODBC because Crystal have to share ODBC connection with the application which executes the report.

My configuration is:

Crystal Reports 9 Professional (Service Pack 1)
Oracle 9.2.0.1 (ODBC Driver 9.2.0.4)
Windows 2000 Professional

Any comment will be appreciated.

Michal

If you must use ODBC with Crystal, you should use the Crystal ODBC driver for Oracle (CR Oracle ODBC Driver 4.10), not the Oracle ODBC driver, any version. The DataDirect ODBC driver supplied with Crystal has some problems, but fewer than any other ODBC driver (working with Crystal). Problems with the CR Oracle ODBC Driver include not being able to access stored procedures in other user's schemas except via SQL Commands, views, or stored procedures, and problems with a few datatypes like NCLOBs and ROWIDs.

However, if you are trying to share the connection, you will find that the CR Oracle ODBC Driver will not function outside of Crystal Reports. To use this driver for both your application and for reports, you would have to purchase the driver outright from DataDirect. I'd suggest that you download the current version trial from DataDirect and try it with your application and reports and see if it works for you.

I'm curious about your statement "First problem is that when creating new report Crystal in some cases doesn't show the user (even if I am logged in to database as this user). This could by workarounded by setting owner to selected user." I don't understand what you're saying here, can you explain in more detail?
