Crystal 8 Developer RDC

I have had no formal training on Crystal as of yet and have no experience using it.

I can quite happily using the package display the information from an OBDC connection, but I have a more detailed breif.

I am an ASP developer and want to create an ASP page which will allow users to selct fields and parameters on those fields to generate their own reports.

Is this possible? I think that it is through the RDC, but I don't know how to use the RDC let alone the option in there that lets me do this!

Can anyone help?

For them to select the actual fields, you would need the "Report Creation API" which has a per user license when distributed with an application. I don't think it is available for ASP, but I could be wrong. Ken Hamady, On-site/Phone Crystal Reports Training/Consulting

Good Evening -
I do this all the time. The first thing you need to do is download one of the sample projects from Seagate's web site.
It contains several ASPs that are needed ( rptserver.asp, alwaysrequiredsteps.asp, morerequiredsteps.asp, etc). What I do is develop the reports using ADO conections and then use one ASP to allow for the selection of critia and then pass them to the next ASP in which you build the query needed for the data. This is passed to the crviewer along with the report name.
I've used this for Access, SQLServer and Paradox tables. Am currently trying to get it to work with MAS90.
The file you will need is ASPXMPS8.EXE.
