Inherited a report where a parameter was defined as a date/time field. I want to modify it to date only, but Crystal won't let me edit the field. It has a green check mark next to it indicating it is used in the report, but I don't see where it appears. The report is really a form letter, so there are minimal fields - so where could this field be hidden? I tried to delete the SQL stored procedure and re-connect it, but the parameter situation was unchanged. I can't delete it either.

hi
if you export in the report definition you will see where is used

The parameter is defined IN the stored procedure.

If you'd at least post your software version and the database being used you might get technical responses.

If you mean a SQL Server stored procedure (SQL is a programming language common to many databases), then you need to know that SQL Server does NOT have a DATE data type, only a datetime. Very annoying to most real database people that MS would be so lazy...

So, in summary, you can't edit the parameter because it is created and defined by the SP, and you can't use a DATE type parameter, because the database type doesn't recognize that type.

So a common solution is to define it as a string parameter in the SP and convert it to a datetime within the SP for use by the SQL within.
