I created a VB App that uses ADOMD and MDX that generates a query from a cube in MS OLAP and puts it into a VB DataGrid. I want to hit a button to generate a report from the result set.

1. Can I generate a Crystal report directly from the DataGrid

or

2. Can Crystal 6.0 access a MS OLAP cube? I know it can go against a Hyperion Essbase cube.

Hurdles,

Here are the pieces I can fill in.
I found references for MS OLAP in the tech notes for Seagate Analysis 7, which is their free downloadable analysis tool. So I would believe (but I am not yet sure) that starting with version 7 of CR, you can make the connection.

However you already have the result set for the grid. I have heard programmers discuss populating reports with a "disconnected data set". I am pretty sure that Crystal allows this as long as the report was created with the same field names as the result set. I don't know the commands, but I will be researching this next week for a class that I have to teach.

Are you using the Active X control to launch the reports?
