Crystal 2008 and text export issue

We have a report that has a very long fixed record length(+1000 characters). We have to put the details of the report in a sub-report that can be put into the report header or footer (does not seem to make a difference). When we export the report to text, the very long record does not appear (i.e, header row and footer row appears, but nothing in between). All the fields are in one text box (most of them in formulas to make a specified length). If we make the text box shorter (in width) it puts in CR's when it word wraps. I have attempted to export as CSV (another post suggested it), but it just repeats the header row and the first line of the detail.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

We finally got it, we ended putting the header line and footer line in subreports and putting all the fields in the detail line. It was tricky to get the fields to end up in the right place (horizontal alignment), but it works now.
