Hi,

I have been trying to join 3 tables together with an outer join from table 1 to table 2 and then another outer join from table 2 to table 3. When I try and run the report I get an error

"Failed to retrieve data from the database"

Followed by:

"Failed to retrieve data from the database.
Details: HY000:[Gupta][ODBC Driver][SQLBase]01410 DLU OOJ Only one outer join table allowed [Database Vendor Code: 1410]

I have Crystal 11 Professional and Gupta 9.0.0 with the latest ODBC driver installed. I can see from the SQL query generated by Crystal that the syntax is wrong. After talking to both Gupta and Crystal I found that they are blaming each other and not helping at all so I turn to the people who really know. If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful.

Are they both left outer joins?

One solution might be to add the third table in a subreport that is linked to the main report on the table2 field. Subreports behave like left outer joins.

Hi LB,

Thanks for your reply.
Yes they are both left outer joins. I have been getting around the problem for now using subreports but this is not ideal and can slow the report down significantly.
