Hi,

I'm connecting to a btrieve database, and I've establish a left outer join from one table to another, using a field called 'CUS_NO' in both tables.

When I run it, I get all the records from the first table, but only 1 record shows up from the other table. Anyone have any ideas about what the problem is?

I'm running the Standard Edition.

Thx

Ivan

Oh - and to add - I am able to see all the data when using a subreport that contains the second table and all the data shows up fine. Linked using the same fields.

Thx again.

I feel your pain dude. What version of Btreive are you using and are you using any of the Pervasive ODBC parts with it? I used to have major problems with Cystal and Btreive & Pervasive before I upgraded to 9 SP2

Yeah - it's Pervasive SQL 7, Btrieve is one of the old versions, 6.something I believe.....I'm only in the process this year of migrating to MS-SQL.

I'm using Crystal 11.0.0.1282

Think I'll try the SP for it, if there is one.....

Thx

Ivan

Ivan -

I'm a MS junkie, I use Btreive & Pervasive both because that is what my inventory system at work uses. Join support in Pervasive 7 is limited, Pervasive 8 added a lot better support for outer joins but they didn't get it right until 9.5 and it is a lot better in Pervasive 10. Crystal Reports doesn't know this I don't think, it just builds up the SQL.

Try this, build your report, do show SQL, take that output and run that directly against your database through Pervasive Control Center (or whatever it was/is called in PSQL 7). I bet you that PCC doesn't return the expected record set.

Are you using ODBC, or are you connecting directly to the DDFs? Use ODBC as a native connection directly to the DDFs does not allow for a left outer join in Pervasive.

"What version of URGENT!!! are you using?

Hey guys, thanks for the responses - I'm connecting directly to the DDFs.

The really odd thing is I have Crystal reports 7 and there's never been a problem with that version.

Eureka! I just applied SP4. Good to go! Once again, Thanks for your assistance.
