Crystal 10 Installation Error 1

Hi Tek-Tips!

I've attempted several times to install Crystal Decisions 10 on a Windows Server.

I've tried with a fresh boot of the server, shutting down any tasks in the Task Manager, before trying the install.

I get an error 2908 could not register component
I've tried 3 times and get the same error.

Any ideas?

In the past I have seen this be resolved by cleaning our any BO/CR keys from the registry, rebooting and then installing again.

Has this server ever had a different version of BO/CR installed?

If so you might try running thie MS Installer cleanup

To clean out the registry you can do so "by hand" (search for BO/CR keys and manually delete them. Or download any of the many free regsitry cleaners out there..
