Hi Everyone,

Any assistance is much appreciated!

I am working on a report and it has to differentiate between Resident Permits and Visitor Permits, and need a formula that will separate the permits in question. They would like to be have a distinct count of resident permits and visitor permits and an average of permit purchases per customer number (I don't need help with that i've got that down ok).

There is one character in the string that denotes that - either an R or a V in the second position. Here is a portion of the data from the report as it stands:

Permit CounPERMIT NUMBE Customer #

281 5R09-24241 34249
282 5R09-24242 34249
283 5R09-24254 33869
284 5R09-24324 33515
285 5R09-24335 37569

286 5R09-24373 46429
287 5R09-24374 46429
293 5V08-03007 35501
294 5V08-03008 35501
295 5V08-03016 42826

Thanks!!!

INSTR({PERMIT NUMBE},2,1)
