When a certain user tries to open a Crystal .rpt file in Seagate Info 7.0 MR2 Report Designer, she gets the error,
Program Error "CRW32.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by WIndows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

When this user logs on to another workstation, she can open the report in Designer without any problem. I can log on with her id on my workstation (which uses a different version of the Oracle driver, 8.00.05.00) and open up the same report in Designer without any problem.

This user can schedule and run the report on the Seagate Info server successfully.

The report uses an Oracle database, and her client Oracle driver is 8.00.06.00. Is this version causing the problem?

Thanks for any ideas or help. I am stumped.

Assuming you're using 8i, cart over the 8.00.05.00 driver from the machine which works to the one that doesn't and retry it. I'd bet the farm that it's down to the driver inconsistency.

I identified what was causing this error. When the default printer was set to a HP4100 PCL 6 on the workstation, the Program Error displayed: "CRW32.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by WIndows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

The problem was resolved by setting another printer, an HP4050 PCL 6, as the default printer on the workstation.

mblampe,

You're a life saver! I encountered the exact same problem that you were having. Crystal was crashing on me every time I tried to modify a report. My default printer is a HP 4000 Series PCL 6. I was able to resolve this problem by downloading a different printer driver from HP. The driver I downloaded is: Laser Jet 4000 PCL 6 v4.3.2.201

Cheers.
