CRServer2008 fails when output is to UNC path

I have been able to output to a share (UNC Path) using BOE XI R2, but so far I am unable to output using CR Server 2008 to a share or UNC path.

I changed the ServerIntelligenceAgent to run under the administrator account for the computer (this is a test box). It runs fine.

In BOE XI R2 I would have changed the ReportJobserver to run under the administrator account, but I do not have an option for that in CR Server 2008.

In the destination for the report, I have selected File System, and I have entered the UNC path as \\share.domain.com\folder (which CR Server 2008 changes \\ to //). I also entered my username and password on the destination tab, just as I enter it to log onto the site. I have also tried DOMAIN\username or just username or just blank ... nothing works.

It fails with the error message:
login error. [CrystalEnterprise.DiskUnmanaged]: [Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.]

I am assuming that the path, username & password I enter on the destination tab for the report overrides what I have entered for the ReportJobserver's default destination information, just as it does in BOE XI R2.

A couple of other notes:

I am able to copy to to the share, so I know the username/password are correct.

The report runs to my local disk, but not to the share, so I know everything else about the report runs okay.

What might I need to change about my username or password, or the account that CR Server 2008 runs under?

Thanks!

Hi,
Can you explain this:
but I do not have an option for that in CR Server 2008.

Is that a new feature or one of the limitations of CrServer?
(I've only used BOE ( And its predecessors))
Since it has a ReportJobServer, does it not run as a separate service like BOE's servers?

Apparantly this is either new to 2008 or a difference in full BOE vs. CR Server.

I only find 2 items in the CCM:
1. Apache Tomcat 5.5.20 ("Tomcat Application Server")
2. Server Intelligence Agent ("Manages BusinessObjectEnterprise Servers")

I can still see a ReportJobServer in the CMC, but I do not find any option to change the account under which the service runs, as I could in BOE's CCM.

The Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) has taken over the Management of the individual BO "Services" from CCM in the 3.0 / 2008 release.

If you go into the broser-based Central Management Console (CMC) - and click on SERVERS you should be able to manage the PROPERTIES to change COMMAND LINE settings, etc - as you used to do in CCM.

I'm not 100% on this...but I would assume that since the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) now "runs" all the individual BO "Services" that is where you need to set-up your network-account access...which is then applied to all it's "children".

Thanks for the post. Yes, that is what I was thinking. The ServerIntelligenceAgent (SIA) is running under the computer's administrator account, which has access to the UNC/share. But even running under that account it still gives the error message of bad user ID or password.

I've started wondering if this could be some type of DNS issue, where maybe CR Server cannot look up the domain name. I tried using the IP address, but that did not work either.

Any other ideas?

I think you need to run the SIA under a DOMAIN account (with ADMIN rights on the local computer), not the local computer ADMINISTRATOR account.

I have the same issue and follow MJRBIM(last thread) and it worked.
It really helped me.

I appreciate the posts. After digging in a bit more, that is how I have it set up. Here are some more details:

1. SIA is running under a (Vista Ultimate) domain account on my computer (remember this is a test environment, so not on a real server on a network but just on a single computer). This domain account does have admin rights, but is not THE administrator account. It is like this: MyComputer\jedownsjr

2. The output destination is \\site.domain.com\myshare .

3. I can copy files from my hard drive to this share using both the command prompt and using a batch file (both logged in as MyComputer\jedownsjr, the domain account the SIA is running under).

Any other thoughts?
