Hi,

I'm not a DB guy, sorry for ignorance.

What is the difference between CRS and clusterware?

Thanks in advance!

CRS = Oracle Cluster ready services
Clusterware = Any clustering software from any vendor.

Thanks!

So, according to your response, CRS is the cluster itself from Oracle and Clusterware depends on another cluster software? (e.g. HP's serviceguard, Veritas Cluster, etc.)

Cheer.

There is no difference, except for the software release level. Oracle called its clustering software CRS in 10.1 and earlier. In Oracle 10.2 they have renamed CRS to Oracle clusterware. You still hear the term CRS a lot, though, even though it's out-of-date.

Thank you! so it is the same product (along with the version levels), it is just a name issue.

Thanks again.
