I am using crystal 8.5.
In the format crosstab section I have the following: Rows= SchoolNames Columns = @living(if deceasedID ='000' then "Living") @Mailable(if deceasedID = '000' and addrlocator = 'good' then "Mailable"). The summrized field = DistinctCount of the StudentID, which helps avoid duplicate counting. 1)I want to show "Living" Alumni only. Since some alumni are deceased, the crosstab gives me that figure also. I don't want it. 2) When I add more than 1 column entry, the report will not group the columns horizontally or to the right of each other such as reading a spreadsheet with columns formatted . 3) I would like to insert percentages as a form of analyzing the Mailable addresses against total addresses. I heard that it is cumbersome to add percentages in crosstabs but would appreciate a tip on this.

I think it would be easiest to do a manual crosstab. If you have duplicates within schools or across schools, it's probably best to use running totals, using the running total editor. For {#Living}, select {table.studentID}, distinctcount, evaluate based on a formula:

{table.deceasedID} = "000"

Reset on change of group (schoolnames).

For {#Mailable}, do the same, but use the following formula in the evaluation area:

{table.deceasedID} = "000" and
{table.addrlocator} = "good"

For the report level totals, create new running totals with "reset never" instead.

To do the percentages at the school level, if you are evaluating against the total number of living, then create a formula:

{#Mailable} % {#Living}

For the report level, use your report level running totals:
{#TotalMailable} % {#TotalLiving}

The running totals must be placed in the group footers and report footer to work properly, so if necessary, drag group header fields to the group footer, and then suppress the details section.
