Crosstab Crystal 9 - Groupings

I created a crosstab in Crystal 9. I created 3 groups where I count the # of application in each group. When I refresh my screen the following results are displayed.

Results
Dog 100
Cat 20

Note my 3rd group which is bird is missing. Yet if I move the bird group to the top of the listing and refresh my screen a 2nd time it now appears but it also subtracts it value from the 2nd group.




When Bird is move to the top of listing:
Results
Bird 30
Dog 70
Cat 20

Can anyone explain to me why this is happening? I have no formula set up in this report.

I just realized what the problem may be...

The items within each grouping are not unique.
For example:

Cat
Item#1
Item#2
Item#3

Dog

Item#1
Item#4

Bird
Item#1
Item#2


I repeat certain items in different groupings. I think if the item repeats in the next grouping Crystal is subtracting out the repeated item.

Can I create a group using a formula and then add it to my crosstab? Will that work?

Any help will be greatly appreciated?
