I am trying to make a couple of crossover cables so that two computers can talk to each other without a hub. I was told that in order for that to happen, a crossover cable needs to be made... does anyone have a diagram that I can get?

Sure it is simple:

On Connector ¦ On Connector
One: ¦ Two:
Pin 1 ----------- Pin 3
Pin 2 ----------- Pin 6
Pin 3 ----------- Pin 1
Pin 4 ----------- OPEN
Pin 5 ----------- OPEN
Pin 6 ----------- Pin 2
Pin 7 ----------- OPEN
Pin 8 ----------- OPEN

It is easy to understand because if you were to draw it out on a diagram, you would see the cables cross. 1 to 3, 2 to 6, 3 to 1, and 6 to 2. Leave all the rest open.
