I am using a fpw 2.6. Several records in my table produces crosslink data. This means that the information in one field was moved to the next field. For example,

Fields : Sales Branch
1.25 BD
2.50 HO
3 15 DV

By looking at the 3rd record you can see that the decimal .15 was moved to the field Branch.

My question is what causes this corruption in the table?
How can I avoid this corruption?

Thanks in advance..

Bren,
one possibility, if you load it from comma delimited file,
is misplaced "," instead "."

What country do you live in? Is a "," used instead of a "." for decimal points eg germany? What is your code page?

How are you adding records to your table. By form? By append? etc.

If the network card was at fault, it must have thrown some junk characters in while writing. The only way you can be really sure the data you wrote is the same as what you wanted to write would be to reread it after writing it.
That would require some extra programming and execution overhead though.

This problem usually occurs when you opened a foxpro file in some other program like lotus or excel & then saved it in .DBF format

Thanks all of you guys. I really appreciate your reponses. I guess I need to check our netcard cards and comma delimited file. By the way, I'm from the Philippines.

Thanks again.
