cross tab problem

I am using crystal XI release 2...

I am trying to create a report for 6 months.
The data is like this...Each job can have different stages and in each stage we have different tasks...and for each task we can use a single trailer which have specific start date and end date.

I am asked to create a report which will show the all the dates in the columns and in the rows i have to group it by Job and then by trailer as rows and the data should be the no.of trailers booked for that day...

I have created a dummy table for dates from the current date..

I am not sure how to calculate the no.of trailers in the cross tab against the given dates...

any help would be greately appreciated...

Please show sample data for each part of the data so as to better understand the construct of your data.

First impression would be that it would be worth looking a a Gantt chart grouped according to the description you gave above.

The means of cross post is not to provide any discomfort to anyone...I have posted earlier in Business Objects and other topics however nobody responded for a long time..you know how time goes when you are waiting for something...so I thought may be this is not the correct place to post it ....and reposted it at Business Objects and formulae link....


cr85user Thanks for the effort. I had solved the problem yesterday ...

First I have created a table called calendar which holds the data from toady to 6 months and I had included a field in that which is autoincremnet and i have given the number to start from -1 and increment it by -1....so the table has values like -1,-2......so on

...and then I have inserted a new filed in the trailer table which is also autoincremnt and which starts with 1 and incremented by 1.

NOw i have joined between trailer and calendar table with rightouterjoin and given the increment fields as <>...
so for each and every trailer i get connection to all dates in calendar...

now at the crystal side what i have done is ..created a new cross tab and in the columns side i had calendar.date and then at the columns side I had traier.job and trailer.trailertype and in the summary i had a formula which says

if {Calender.Dates} in {trailer.DateStart} to {trailer.DateEnd} then

{trailer.CntTrailer}
else
0

I have supresssed the subtotals of trailer.trailertype...

and then I had the table what i wanted...
