cross tab - formula not available for reporting HELP

I have created the following formula:
Minimum ({TrxMaster.TrxDate},{TrxDist.ApplyTo})

The formula works fine except that if I want to use it in a cross tab report - it is not available.

Almost all the time formulas are available for me to put on a crosstab report, however this formula doesn't show up. It probably has to do with the timing of when the formula runs.

Place the applyto in the rows, and the trxdate in the columns, highlight the trxdate and select group options, select the value printed for this column will be the first date in the period - is that what you want?

What I need is the first date Applyto is used per batch of applyto. applyto links accounts receivable services with accounts receivable payments. Applyto may have 10 transactions - I need to know the first time a transaction occured and then sum all remaining applyto.

Please provide an example of how you propose this Crosstab to look.
