Hello all,

I cannot get BEXEC v7.0 to see a direct connection between two server's with two NIC's each, where the 'backup NIC' is on a separate subnet using a crossover cable.

The two servers are in a separate workgroup, I can see and browse both machines in network neighborhood. I can also make an IP connection and hostname conection when defining a backup job inside BExec. But the backup job fails when it runs with a message like 'cannot contact the server ...'

My question is, Does BExec support cross over connection, or do I need Net BAckup ? If anyone has had success in this type of scenario, I would be very pleased to hear from you.

Thanks,
Warren

Whats the full error for starters and why are you running 2 servers on a cross over cable? I see no reason why BE wouldn't support it, have you thought of plugging the servers into a hub of some description and trying that way?

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I didn't save the error message and have re-installed BExec. I did check the Microsoft and Veritas knowledgebases at the time, but didn't find much.

I'm testing 100BT cards but will replace them with 1 Gbps cards and don't want to buy a seprate 1GBps hub at this time.
