Hi all,

I would like to use a cronjob to stop an upper application on Unix 4.3.3,then make a whole mksysb at night, and then restart at the morning. I only have a production machine, I would like thus to be sure before proceeding. The stop/start takes 15 minutes. The mksysb can take 4 to 6 hours. Is the cronjob executed sequentially, waiting for the mksysb to be finished ? Or the restart could be launched before the end of the backup (That should not happen!)

Thanks

Best way might be to combine the whole thing into one script, so that you can be sure that each dependant part is completed before commencing the next. HTH.

I'd say use a script. In my case we put scripts on a central nfs server so everybody gets the same script and I don't have to edit 200 crontabs. If you have versions, have crontab run a link to the current version. IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation
