hi all..

i don't want the output of all jobs mailed to cron, as it is done by default.. i have tried removing the MAILTO variable in the cron configuration file, but that doesn't work..

man cron says a copy of the output from cron is mailed to the owner of cron, as well to the user defined in MAILTO...

is there anyway i can stop mailing coming to root from cron..?.. it's distorting my attempts to capture stats on how much mail my mail server actually handles..

all help appreciated..

Hi,

You can redirect to /dev/null to stop cron from mailing you. example:

55 09-17 * * 1-6 /admin/sys_q_stat > /dev/null 2>&1
