CRN - How do I display total rows in Header of Report?

I have tried several ways to display a total count of rows in a report somewhere else rather than in the main list report and I have had little success. I tried pulling a list report over into a table cell, doing a count on the column I am interested in, then hiding the column and title; however, the report always shows a blank for the count in that cell. Any help, hints or suggestions would really be appreciated!
