I tried to install an ASU II into a 3300 mxe running 9.0.0.41. ASU wouldnt even come up, no solid lights, Mitel Tech support said 9.0.0.41 had a known issue with loading ASUs through embedded CIM ports.
He said "upgrade to 9.0.1.17." I downloaded the files and tried to install through the boot sequence motfcc etc etc.
failed.
so I packed my bags and went back to my shop and did an online upgrade to my own personal lab 3300 and it worked flawlessly. my personal 3300 is running 9.0.1.17 just fine.
that was yesterday.
Two times I tried to upgrade the software again and it failed. It loaded the new software version and rebooted but when it tried to restore the database it stopped and reported an upgrade fail.
I got on the phone with mitel and while I was waiting on hold, I looked in the help files and found the SWAP command. I ran the swap command and it loaded 9.0.1.17 to the active software version and then immediately rebooted, which I was unprepared for because it didnt say it was going to cause a reboot in the help file.
it rebooted with a clean slate running the new software, so I started a database restore. the databse restore failed and gave me the critical alarm 'cc unavailable" what does that even mean?
I called Mitel and they said I should swap back to the old software, so I ran the SWAP command and swapped back to 9.0.0.41. now its running as usual, and it will not recognize my ASU.
Mitel says I should do a database backup and capture the log file to look for anything extraordinary, but I dont have a clue what I should be looking for.
this is the same 3300 that spontaneously corrupts the database when I change the PRI protocol, by the way.
