DSP card status critical 100% unavailable.

what now?

Try to move to another slot. Capture startup log from the console. Make sure that system detects DSP and loads firmware into it.

alright. im trying my first reboot.

sorry, this is a lab 3300 mx that has been giving me a headache since day one.

looks like its still whacked, so I guess now ill research the DSP card and what it is and how to change the slot etc.

Check the DSP's from the VxWorks shell. Either plug into the "Maintenance" serial port on the front of the controller (9600, 8-N-1), or use Secure Telnet or puTTY (RAW mode) to connect to port 2002 of the RTC IP address. Once you're at the "->" prompt, type in:
ShowDspStatus

You should see the status of all detected DSP MMC's, like this:

-> ShowDspStatus
ShowDspStatus

Dsp Status: (Warning! This only displays the current state of the dsps in the system. Failures previous to a system reboot are not recorded.)

Slot Number 4 Dsp 0 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 4 Dsp 1 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 4 Dsp 2 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 4 Dsp 3 State: ACTIVE

Slot Number 6 Dsp 0 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 6 Dsp 1 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 6 Dsp 2 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 6 Dsp 3 State: ACTIVE

Slot Number 7 Dsp 0 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 7 Dsp 1 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 7 Dsp 2 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 7 Dsp 3 State: ACTIVE

Slot Number 8 Dsp 0 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 8 Dsp 1 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 8 Dsp 2 State: ACTIVE
Slot Number 8 Dsp 3 State: ACTIVE
value = 0 = 0x0
->

Anything that is not "ACTIVE" is bad. If all DSP's on a slot are showing up as anything other than "ACTIVE", try replacing the MMC.

what slot do you have this installed in? slot 4?
do you have compression licenses.
I recall that on the MX systems you installed DSP for certain use (compression or telecoms resources) in certain slots.

you could have put this in a slot for compression but not have compression licenses.

take the card out all together??

It provides voice signal transformations such as mixing, coding, decoding, copressing, expanding. DSP stands for Digital Signal Processor. It is a daughter board sitting on the main board of the ICP. P/N 50003728 for dual DSP.

it does what slapin says however the part number you'll be looking for is different. on the MX controller, do you have something installed in slot 4? I think the part number is 50002979.
if you find this in any slot other than 4 it's being used for telecoms resources.

I have a 5002979 in slot 4 and I have 8 compression licenses. should I have to enable them for that slot or something?

it could well be the DSP in slot 4 that's gone faulty.
run sh fau al (show faults alarms) from maintenance commands and tell us what it says.

installing a DSP in slot 4 on the MX systems would always allocate it for compression. I'm not sure how this changed in later release of software but I've certainly always stuck to this rule and have never had issues.

I let it sit over the weekend and now theres no critical, only a minor alarm. dsp status is minor with 20% unavailable.

SH FAU AL shows. no faults.

Sounds like you have a faulty DSP module, if you don't have a spare, get one ASAP.

you'll get an alarm cause you have compression license but no resources.

worst case you won't be able to do compression

what if I just leave it in there.

will it be able to handle 2 pots lines and 3 IP phones without melting down?
