Occasionally, credit card transactions disappear off the system. The server will go in to add their tip, and the transaction will be gone. It's not spooling on a terminal or showing up in EDC. However, when we run it through again, the customer ends up getting charged twice. Anybody have any suggestions?

Probably what's happening is that you are settling the batch before the server adjusts her tip. I've seen it many times. When you settle your batch (especially if you are a 24 hour site) you need to make sure everyone's tips are in. If you don't you'll have to input the tip as a seperate transaction on the BOH computer.

No, it happened again last night and they had not settled the batch. I called Paymentech and the credit card had been authorized but it wasn't showing in the store's EDC. It showed up in the Audits Report under the servers name, but that was it. They had to close the ticket out to cash and force it through from the back of the house using the original authorization.

It can only be caused by three things.

1) The terminal it was done at is in spool down. (redundancy)

2) The EDC path in the ibercfg.bat is wrong.

3) the terminal is set up to automake fileserver and it is going in and out of redundancy by itself. Check the newdata folder - aloha.ini file for this setting and set it to false.

What POS system are you using? This is a known issue with some versions of IP CC auth drivers on Micros systems.
