Hi,

We are running Micros RES 3700 5.1 MR2. During closing of transactions, we have staff who manually enter the customer credit card number instead of swiping it. We have masked the card number and use the check number and last 4 digits of the credit card to reconcile data with our banks.

Is there anyway to setup Micros so that staff cannot manually enter the credit card number and have to swipe the card?

Many thanks,
Sanjeev

why are they entering the card numbers manually if they have the card in their hand? Sounds like we're missing some details. Do you have a separate CC device you use for the CC processing and only entering the CCs into the Micros for balancing?

Hi,

They are using a separate CC device for CC processing and only enter the CC into Micros for balancing.

I think you can set the number of digits entered into each payment type in Micros. You can set the preamble as well so you could make it that each card only accepts 4 digits or something like that.
There is probably a user privilege to not allow manual typing.
