I am going to add POS to a Partnetr system and am unfamilier with it.
I found an Aux port on the 18D phone. can I hook into that?
Or do I run a cable back to the Equipment room and attach before the system? Anything wrong with that?
If the Aux port will work what line dials out? First, first available or what.
If there is confersation on the line what is the result?

you can use the AUX port but the line pickup will follow the Auto Line Select, so you might have to add a 9 in front of the number to dial if the 18D picks up intercom.
Other then that no trouble at all

If you can't be good, be good at it!

there is only one problem doing it through the aux port, and that is that if you are on that extension and need to run a credit card, it will not work. Using the Aux port makes that cc reader, or any other analog device plugged into it, act exactly like the 18d because it is the same extension. Ideally you would probably want to run a cable to another extension in the phone system and program that to not ring and then if you are needing to take a cc over the phone, then you will be able to because your cc reader will pick the next available line if you have auto line select set up correctly.
