Credit Card Machine

I'm a newby and trying to set up a credit card machine to one of our analog lines. When we dial out with the credit card machine it states that the line can't connect. We returned the first machine thinking there was a problem with the modem but this one does the same thing. We've contacted the company and they said it's our phone line. We can dial the number, using an analog phone, that the machine is suppose to be dialing without any problems. We also have to dial 9 to get out, which is entered into the device.

Any suggestions?!?

If it was me I would wither put a comma (,) after the 9 to have system wait for external line or put a shortcode on the extension i.e. user to dial without the 9.

What do you mean by "Dial3K1"?

I have a comma after the 9. I also tried several comma's after the 9.

We've tried it on several analog lines. I don't believe there are any restrictions.

Hook your test set upto the credit card machine and monitor it. What do you hear?

Also use call status and watch what the extension is dialing if anything.

Also log the call using monitor.

are your lines to the outside world Analog or ISDN
I experienced this problem 12 months ago with two seperate banks & the cause was the Banck clearing house could not accept calls that had originated on ISDN circuits (even though they were dialed from an analog extn)

One bank was not interested in investigating this any further but the final solution was to change the number that the PDA system dialed.
