Just found a link to (Microsoft) utility that allow to create Windows shortcut from command line.
So you could create shortcut from Basic (by "shell" command), place it anythere (including Windows desktop, Programs menu and Startup folder). It even could change the icon
There found:
at "Windows 95 / DOS 7 Batch Programming"
actually first linked page:
There utility itself:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Products/Windows/Windows95/CDRomExtras/AdministrationTools/ApplicationTools/envars.exe
(BTW link to page was given by dilettante Mar 13, 2003, forum BASIC: Microsoft)
