Creating Web Calendar

I am looking to create a web calendar where I can add and update events to it.
Could anyone tell me how to go about this using php?

I'm currently working on a calendar module for a CMS, and I found it best to use Unix time (seconds since base) and use date(...) to format. PHP has a ton of time based functions already.
