Creating variables from Online Data

I am in the process of creating several stock-related programs. I need my programs to access recent stock and option data. Because AOL and Yahoo don't have people constantly updating the data for thousands of stocks, there must be a way of converting onine data into a variable.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Well one bad way of doing it would be to use HTTP calls to a stock website to pull a page after querying a stock...
Unless the company that owns that website actually gives you permission to do that (which they probably wouldn't), you'd be better off asking some stock sites if they have any direct queries that you can run (probably for a fee) to get the quotes.
