I would like to create test dial tone. Can I change an extension to machine dial tone then loop it from an extension port to a line port on a 206 module or an ACS R6.0 module.

Using #309 you could switch the intercom dial tone from "Regular" to "Machine" for a given extension. I suppose you could establish a loop to connect an unused extension to an unused telephone line.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

the partner system is not really picky it will take even the intercom dialtone and use it for the lines to dial out, as long as there is voltage it is happy.

Thank you Dexman and Westi. I have done these two things, but I am unable to get dial tone on a partner set. I changed to machine dial tone, took a station cord and bridged the extension port to the line port. I get no dial tone at line one or any of the lines on a partner set.

do you get the intercom?? If not then you might have a problem with the voice pair (pin 4&5) of you phone, plug it into the system directly and best of all test the phone somewhere else as well to make sure that it works or take a working one to test on the system directly

I have done this before and it works. Just loop thru and no issues.

Pick an unused extension. Remove all lines with #301. Set to Machine dial tone with #309. Loop it to a CO port, and you're done.
