Creating system image 1

hi guys...

do u know of any means to create a system image of an aix box, alongwith vgs and oracle database in it and dumping this image on other aix boxes.. i dont have nim..

if it helps.. i'm still on 5.1 / 5.2

you can create an image using mksysb

mksysb -i /location_of_images/mksysb_image_name

you can as well do:

smitty mksysb

or

man mksysb for more info.

Thanks Khalid,

However I'm lookin for a solution similar to System Insight Manager from HP. I have multiple AIX systems and would I like to clone, image and/or backup the systems and would like to restore it on demand.

Then the best solution to your problem is to have a NIM master backing up your systems! Just choose one system and install NIM on it and there you go!
