Hi, got an NT domain, got a linux box running Samba. Need to create some shares to do mappings for the windows users. This is my basic smb.conf file:

# Global parameters
[global]
workgroup = RISC
server string = Risc Experimental Data Server
security = DOMAIN
encrypt passwords = Yes
password server = risc_pdc
username map = /etc/smbusers
log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
max log size = 50
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
dns proxy = No
hosts allow = 172.16.150.,172.16.151.,172.16.152.,172.16.153.,172.16.154.,172.16.155.

[risc_data]
comment = Risc Data for the courageous
path = /risc_data
writeable = Yes
create mask = 0644
directory mask = 0755
guest ok = Yes
sync always = Yes

[Public]
comment = Risc Data Public Area
path = /risc_data/Public
writeable = Yes
create mask = 0644
directory mask = 0755
guest ok = Yes
sync always = Yes

Why does my Public share not appear in windows? I assumed this was relatively simple to setup - maybe I was wrong!

Thanks for any help., Steve

browseable = yes ;
also you are sharing a subdirectory of the risc_dir;
this is not strictly necessary.
Just sharing the parent_dir and setting browseable = yes,
should do the trick.
Nice config.
