Can anybody give me a little direction on how to create a recurring appointment in 6.0?

I need to basically schedule an 'alarm' everyday at 3:30 to remind me to perform a certain task.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Setting up a Recurring Personal Appointment

Question: Doug W., Bonneville International Corp., Salt Lake City, Utah, USA wrote: I need to know how to set up a recurring appointment, for example, “Go to the gym” every Mon., Wed., and Fri. We have had GW here at work for a couple of years now, but setting recurring appointments (or tasks, for that matter) is still a mystery to me. GW seems to be oriented toward “sending” myself a recurring appointment or task. I don't want to “send” it because that creates all kinds of clutter. (I tried that a few times and ended up having to delete 500 sent and received items, or something like that.) I just want to enter it and then see it appear every Mon., Wed., and Fri., for example, for the next two years or the rest of eternity. If there is a simple answer to this, I would very much like to know it. Or is GW too complex to do something this simple? Thanks mucho!

Answer: Doug, have a little faith in us. GW can do the simple stuff too—no worries. And just so you know, if you chose to send an auto-date to yourself, you would only have to accept the first instance. You would then click “All Instances” and the rest would go away from your Mailbox and appear only in your Calendar. Voila. Just a tip for the future in case you ever get an onslaught of auto-dated items in your Mailbox.

As for reminding yourself to go to the gym, you can make that a personal note, task, or appointment, depending on how much motivation you need. One thing you should notice right away about all of these personal items: the Send button has been replaced with an OK button. Get it? No sending involved here at all. Once you’re done scheduling this baby, you’ll click OK and it will appear in your Calendar for the rest of eternity, should you so desire.

Here’s what you need to do. Open your Calendar. Double click in the appropriate list box. For example, to create an appointment, double-click the time in the Appointments List box that you plan to go to the gym—say 7:00AM. A personal appointment appears with 7:00AM already filled in. Now click Actions, Auto-Date. There are lots of ways to set auto-dates, and you can check out online Help for the details on the more complicated ways. These involve formulas and so on. We’ll pass on that for now and just walk you through the easiest method of all. See all those calendars on the Dates tab? Just start clicking every M/W/F you see. To continue through next year, click the arrow to the right of the year at the top of the calendars. To continue through eternity... well, you get it. When you’re done, click OK. Make sure to fill in a subject and place, because that’s what’ll show on your Calendar. Now click OK again. You’ll see your appointment every M/W/F at 7:00AM. No sending, no receiving, no clutter. No more excuses for skipping your workout.
