I need to create a database that is empty of all records without destroying the information that is already there. My "boss" wants the database as is and also one that only has the tables, queries, reports, and forms in it.
Thanks
There's an easier way (I'm using Access '97, but I'm sure it works about the same in other versions):
Create a new database. Go to the tables tab, and select "New".
Select "Import Table".
Choose "Select All"
Go to the "Queries", "Forms", etc. tabs and select all.
Choose "Options"
Check the box marked "Structure only" (as opposed to "Structure and Data"
This will give you a copy of all the database objects, with no data.
I'm doing this from memory, so one or two of the menu options may be slightly different, but this is pretty close. It's a lot faster than copying all the data and deleting it (I've got several databases containing 500,000 or more records - they take forever to copy and delete full tables).
This was cross posted in thread705-435004...where I mentioned both solutions....Thanks guys, for your support and helping of others... Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. (Albert Einstein)

This has actually helped me in two ways on another thread that I had posted. I had put a security initially around one of the databases that I had created. This created a problem with copying onto disk and sharing in-house. The second way sounds better but I had already done it the first way. Thanks
