creating photorealistic road markings

I am trying to create some authentic looking yellow lines on a tarmac jpeg. I found a web tutorial here

This is just the effect I am seeking, however I seem unable to replicate the end result. Each time I set the new layer to Difference my yellow line turns purple. I would ideally like to create a realistic yellow line on my road texture with bits of the tarmac showing through etc

I would be most appreciative if anybody can help me

Try going through the different blending modes Hue may work better for what you are trying to do if this wont work you may need to create a displacement map.

Make sure you use Difference on the layer and not on the fill option.

Also, be sure that you create your stripe on a separate layer.
