I'm in the process of designing a book. I would like to send it the the printer exported as a PDF. Now, 1 font can't be embedded because of the licensing, and it's on the header of each chapter. I would like to know if there is a fast & easy way to make like an action to select that font and make it outlines automatically?

Please HELP I need to go the printer in the next few days.

THank You so much

If it is the header of each chapter then you probably set up a master page for the chapter (or you still can) with this uniform text.

Thanx for replying. No I did not set up a master, and even if I would, how can I create the outlines automatically?

This is a one-step operation that needs no automation. If you set up a master page with the chapter heading, you only have one instance of the chapter heading that needs to be outlined (per chapter). Simply outline that one instance and it will appear on all pages within that chapter. This is how master pages work.

Ty for your reply. I understand very much what you're saying, but you have to understand that I have like 20 chapters and each one starts with different words above where th text starts and I can't make 1 master for them all because it will only have that fist header.

Ahhh - I was thinking that you were using the chapter title as a running header on all pages within the chapter.

If the chapter heading is in the same text frame as other text then you have a problem. The text to outline must be in its own frame. If it shares a frame with body text then the body text will be outlined as well.

To automate the outlining of text frames, you will first need to identify what frames to outline. This can be done by tagging the frames for XML or using your predefined style sheet. A sample outline script can be found at
Since you only have about 20 chapters, it may be best to manually outline instead of wrestling with scripting.

You may also try a find/replace function to change the font to another one that can be embedded in a PDF.
